Gold & Black Sound, commonly known as GABS, is the official band of Purdue University Women's Basketball.  GABS is a high octane group that provides non-stop enthusiastic and energetic support of the team. Beginning in the later part of fall semester and ending in mid-spring semester, GABS is on hand to get the crowd fired up for all home women's basketball games.  They play a vital role in creating an atmosphere that gives Purdue one of the better home-court advantages in the country.

GABS traditionally follows the team through post-season Big Ten and NCAA tournament action.  Typically reserved for veteran members of the group, travel to tournament locations is one of the major perks to membership. Tournament travel often includes touring of the site locale and fun activities during the downtime.

GABS members do not receive academic credit, scholarship or pay for participating but are provided free access to the games at which they perform as well as getting the opportunity to travel with the team.  Attendance to all rehearsals and performances is required as well as enrollment in an additional band ensemble (both fall and spring semesters) that does receive credit.  However, if a conflict is unavoidable it is usually acceptable to find a substitute to take your spot. To gain entrance to GABS, all members must sign up through the band office for a separate audition (auditions for other bands do not count).

For all the fans that leave the games early, you are missing out! Following every home victory, the band always plays the popular party song, "Sex&Beer", after the post-game interview with Coach Sharon Versyp. Stick around next time and sing along!
